YEDA has designed a Scholarship Incentive Fund to assist graduating members with their educational goals. Every rider no matter the division in which they compete or the year they become eligible to receive scholarship funds, is invited to enroll in the YEDA Scholarship Incentive Fund. Once an enrollee, all points earned during regular season competition are used to determine the size of the eligible enrollee’s scholarship award which will be presented at Nationals their year of graduation and/or final year of eligibility in YEDA.
Any rider may choose to enroll in only one or in two classes within their division. For example, in the Ruby Division an enrollee may choose to participate in both the Rail and Pattern class. The enrollment fee for the first class is $100. Adding a second class will only cost an additional $25. Enrollment is good for one season of competition and only points earned while enrolled in the program will accumulate. Enrollment may be renewed in subsequent years by paying a sustaining fee.
The way it works is simple; the pot of available scholarship dollars is divided by the total number of points earned by YEDA SIF graduating enrollees and/or those in their final year of eligibility in YEDA. Once a monetary value per point is established, we multiply that value by the number of points earned by the rider to determine their scholarship award. In loose terms, if Little Sally Walker, SIF enrollee, earns 20% of the total points earned by the YEDA SIF eligible enrollees, Little Sally Walker will receive a check for 20% of the pot.
Be aware that only graduating members and/or those in their final year of YEDA eligibility who are enrolled in the YEDA Scholarship Incentive Program are eligible to receive a YEDA Scholarship Incentive Fund payout.
Why enroll prior to your senior year? To build up points! You may not be eligible for a payout until your senior year and/or final year of YEDA eligibility, but you can start building up points so when your time comes you will receive a larger percentage of the pot. All Scholarship Incentive Fund enrollment fees are held in reserve for the graduating class from which they were collected.
Any points earned prior to receipt of enrollee’s membership form and payment will not count. Points earned prior to postmark date of completed membership form and funds also will not count.
Only points earned after your Scholarship Enrollment Form and payment are received or postmarked, count.
